Canadian Lynx, Bobcat or Siberian Lynx Containment
Containment for Canadian Lynx and Bobcats and / or Siberian Lynx is a very important factor for many exotic animal owners and definitely professionals in the field. Many Canadian Lynx Breeders or Bobcat breeders will sell you an animal and not provide much information about this very important topic.

Proper Containment for a Canadian Lynx and / or Bobcats should be at least 7 feet tall and have a top and a bottom that is secure and enclosed. The only opening that should be available should be the door where you can come in and out at will. It is advisable so that your animal never escapes and gets into any trouble or killed is to have a double - enclosure. That is an enclosure around an enclosure. A Canadian Lynx breeder or a Bobcat Breeder as well as a Siberian Lynx Breeder will be able to give you some good advice for an enclosure. Be sure only to purchase your animal from a responsible breeder who will offer support not only in purchasing your animals but also with issues such as Canadian Lynx care, Bobcat care and Siberian Lynx care and exotic cat after-care. We always send people who purchase kittens from us a fact sheet about the animal as well as care and responsible ownership information. There is a great organization called the FCF which is an organization that is commited to providing information on the responsible ownership and preservation of felines of all types. They offer husbandry courses for people with zero or limited feline experience. They offer classes of Husbandry all over the United States and you would not have to travel very far to attend one at the right time. Attending a husbandry course is highly recommended for people with no experience with these small to medium sized exotic felines.
If a double enclosure is opted for, one way to save time and materials is to make the top sides of the outer enclosure connect with the top of the inner enclosure to save mony on time and materials on a double roof. It is easy enough and the peace of mind that it will provide you is well worth the effort.
Reasons for an enclosure:
1) You may find that you are un-able to keep your Canadian Lynx in your home full-time.
If you have furniture or valuables then what about claws, claws and more claws and an animal that can jump 15 feet vertically? I think you get the picture. Some do keep them inside full - time but this is actually the exception to the rule of keeping Canadian Lynx or Bobcats inside the home. The Siberian Lynx is definitely more of a challenge to keep inside and you will almost certainly need containment for such an animal regardless of well concieved intentions.
2) Do you plan on going on vacations, visiting friends or relatives or getting ill for any reason whether minor or large or just plain and simply giving your animal any quality outdoor time? I'm sure that with 99% of most people, at least on of these issues will come up. Bottom line is that it is not too hard to see the DEFINITE need for an enclosure even if you hardly use it.
3) You may find that the animal enjoys being outside full-time more so than not.
When you do go out of town, you need someone to watch your animals. It would be a lot easier and safer to just come into an enclosure to provide food and water.
Custom Containment can be built and shipped to you if necessary. We also provide custom transportation enclosures that can be custom fit to the back of your vehicle.
Breeders of Canadian Lynx, Siberian Lynx and Bobcats.
A Canadian Lynx, Bobcat or Siberian Lynx definitely can not be left inside any average home for any lengthy period of time unattended except for the very rare few who have went to great lengths to dot all I's and cross all T's.
